How much are your personal info worth?

Hi.

Today I want to show you what are your personal info worth in the open market - money.
Some people might think that their details aren't worth trying to get by data brokers or cyber criminals - they are wrong.

As we can see according to Swipe Toolkit, an online data calculator presented by independent research consortium Preemptive Media:

"We used the following sources to determine the worth of your individual data bits: Accurint, Aristotle, ChoicePoint, ChoiceTrust, DocuSearch, Experian, KnowX, Merlin Data, and Pallorium. There are many other commercial data warehouses in the U.S., but these are some of the most popular and represent the general types of information that are for sale. " We can read at their website.

Have you ever wondered how much your personal data is worth on the black market? Symantec released new online tool which requires from you just few easy steps, and you can check it now here.

  1. Exactly who do these people sell to that needs to know things such as whether or not you're a sex offender or have a military record?

  2. So being listed as a sex offender is less valuable than an unpublished phone number? Weird.

This is why identity-insurance is a handy thing.

  3. I think they are some investigation agencies out there, also when someone want to thief your identity, the more he know about you, the better he can act like you, while makin loans, crimes like drug trafficing etc. - those are just my thoughts btw.

  8. There are chat rooms / forums all over the place that vend information to other thieves. Usually, it's sold in packets for $100-500 with bits and pieces from your post concerning one single person. Scary times.

  16. how is sex offender status worth $13? You can literally just type in a zipcode and see every sex offender in that area. I mean... If anyone's looking for sex offender data I offer it for the low low price of only $10.

  25. @spunchops

You are obviously missing the point, just like some other people. With those info, people can make loans at your name, take credit cards etc, also make you some criminal record, that with some bad luck you will have to pay for.
